The short answer: choose infrared heating panels by the size of the room, using the “heated area” figure on each product page. Our steel panels cover 8 m² (350 W), 14 m² (500 W) and 20 m² (700 W), and our glass bathroom panels with towel rails cover 8 m² (400 W) and 16 m² (800 W). Measure the floor area of the room, pick the panel whose heated area matches or exceeds it, then check that the panel physically fits the wall. If your room falls between two sizes, or it is hard to heat, send us the details and we will help you choose.
This guide shows how to size infrared heating panels for a room, how our two panel ranges differ and what to check before you order.

How an infrared heating panel works
An infrared panel is a flat, wall-mounted electric heater. Our product pages describe it as heating people and objects in the room directly with far infrared heat, rather than only heating the air. The panels have no fan and no moving parts, so they run silently and there is no air movement to stir up dust. Unlike underfloor heating, nothing goes under the floor: you fix a panel to the wall and connect it to the electricity supply, which makes it a practical option for a single room, an extension, an office or a bedroom where you do not want to lift a floor.
How to size infrared heating panels for your room
- Measure the floor area. Then multiply the length of the room by its width, in metres.
- Compare it with the heated area. Each product page lists a heated area in m². Pick a panel whose heated area is equal to or larger than your room.
- Check the wall space. Compare the panel dimensions in the table below with the wall you have in mind, and also leave room for the mounting kit.
- Think about the room itself. A room with large windows, an exposed outside wall or a draughty door is harder to keep warm than the same floor area in the middle of the house. If that sounds like your room, tell us when you contact us.
The heated area is the figure on each product page for that panel. However, it guides you to the size of room the panel suits, not a promise of a particular temperature in every house.

Steel infrared heating panels for living rooms, offices and bedrooms
The infrared room heating panels are slim steel panels, 15 mm deep, with a white finish. Their product pages describe them as suitable for homes, offices, studios and commercial spaces, and the product page says the smallest one also works in bedrooms and bathrooms. Each has a built-in thermostat with an LED display, so you can set the temperature on the panel itself. They also connect over 2.4 GHz WiFi to the Tuya Smart or TERMOFOL Smart app, where you can adjust settings and set a schedule from your phone.
- The 350 W TF-SWT400 is the compact one: a 600 x 600 mm square for a small room or for heating one spot.
- Similarly, the 500 W TF-SWT700 suits a medium-sized room, with a heated area of 14 m².
- Finally, the 700 W TF-SWT1000 is the largest, at 1200 x 600 mm, and covers up to 20 m².
Glass infrared heating panels with towel rails for bathrooms

Our infrared bathroom heating panels have a tempered glass front in white or black, chrome towel rails and a backlit touchscreen. In addition, they have WiFi built in, you control them with the TERMOFOL SMART app, and they need no external thermostat. The product pages also list open window detection, a child lock and overheat protection. There are two sizes, 400 W for 8 m² and 800 W for 16 m², each in both colours.
Because they carry towel rails, they do two jobs in a bathroom or en-suite: they heat the room and keep a couple of towels warm. Make sure the wall you choose has room for the full panel, since the 800 W model is 55 x 115 cm.
Before you order
- Use a qualified electrician. We recommend that a qualified electrician, for example a Safe Electric registered contractor, makes the electrical connection, especially in a bathroom, where there are specific rules about where electrical equipment can go.
- Check the wall. Panels hang on the wall, so the surface must be able to carry the weight shown in the table, up to 12.5 kg for the largest steel panel.
- Check the WiFi. The steel panels use a 2.4 GHz connection, so make sure your router offers it where the panel will be.
- Not sure which size? Then send us the room size and where the panel would go.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate thermostat?
No. The steel panels have a built-in thermostat with an LED display, whereas the glass bathroom panels need no external thermostat. You can control both ranges from an app.
Which app do the panels use?
The steel panels work with the Tuya Smart app or the TERMOFOL Smart app over 2.4 GHz WiFi. In contrast, you control the glass bathroom panels with the TERMOFOL SMART app.
My room is between two sizes. Which one should I choose?
Compare the room’s floor area with the heated area on each product page and also look at the wall space available. If the room is hard to heat or you are unsure, contact us with the room size and we will help you decide, including whether more than one panel makes sense.
Is delivery free?
